Day 1: New Delhi – Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve
Arrive New Delhi and catch morning flight to Jabalpur. At Jabalpur airport you will be met by your driver and driven to Bandhavgarh. Five hour drive (200 km) through rural India will take you to the forest of Bandhavgarh. Check-in to your lodge which is nestled comfortably in the lap of nature just on the edge of Bandhavgarh. Drain the day’s exhaustion with hot and cold beverages. Retire early after dinner, gearing up for tomorrow’s adventure.
Day 2 & 3: Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve
Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve: World renowned Bandhavgarh is known for its high tiger density and thus offers the best chance to see tigers in the wild. Set out in search of world’s most elusive cat on 4x4 in morning and evening game safari.
Day 4- 6 Kanha Tiger Reserve
After morning safari travel south to Kanha Tiger Reserve. A drive of six hours will take you through the scenic rural environs of Central India. Check into your luxury tented camp which is canvas–walled homes on solid foundations with ensuite bathrooms. Kanha National Park, located in the Maikal hills of the Satpura mountain ranges, famed for its beautiful meadows is home to 22 species of large mammals including a number of tigers and well over 200 species of birds. Explore Kanha in search of tiger and other animals.
Day 7 & 8: Pench Tiger Reserve
Travel west from Kanha to Pench (200 km/5 hours). On arrival, check into your camp and relax amidst its natural setting. Ethnically designed in keeping with the native culture, the camp showcases a pastoral jungle theme.
Named after the Pench river, the reserve is located in the southern reaches of the Satpura hill range. It also has some of the highest deer/antelope density in India attracting good numbers of carnivore such as tiger, leopard and wild dogs along with occasionally seen Indian wolf. Pench is the original setting which inspired Rudyard Kipling for his master piece ‘The Jungle Book’. BBC also brought Pench in international spot light after shooting award winning documentary ‘Spy in the Jungle’. Explore Pench in morning and evening game safari in search of wildlife.
Day 9 – 11: Satpura Tiger Reserve
Travel north from Pench to Satpura (300 km/7 hours). The route circles the Mahadeo hills and will take you through dense forest, and winding ghats, all combined to make some of the most breathtaking landscapes of Central India. Check into you luxury lodge. Its rooms feature a large deck and big bay-windows that give an excellent feel, keeping guests close to the surroundings outside.
Nestled in the Satpura mountain range, this reserve is a unique and a highly diverse biosphere reserve with a wide range of habitats and altitudes. Satpura offers a wealth of wildlife viewing that is amongst the best in India. The elusive leopard, the much sought-after sloth bear and the rarely see Asian wild dog are abundant and relatively easily seen here. Satpura is also home to Indian giant squirrel and tigers. Apart from 4v4 game safari, Satpura offers host of other activities that are the highlight of this park. You can walk with the guide on a designated path in the reserve. Explore the back waters of Tawa reservoir on canoe in search of a rich spectacle of water birds and wetland wildlife. Spend 3 nights and day here exploring Satpura.
Day 12: New Delhi
Today after final morning jungle activity, bid farewell to Satpura and drive to Bhopal (150 km/3 hours). Pause 45 kms south of Bhopal to see the extraordinary cave paintings at Bhimbetka. The paintings at this UNESCO site are believed to be up to 30,000 years old. After Bhimbetka continue to Bhopal airport to catch flight to New Delhi/Mumbai for your onward journey.
You can choose to stay couple of days in Bhopal to see its Mughal architecture and world class museums along with a visit to Sanchi stupa which was built in 3rd century BC by emperor Ashok.
